Ashford, Keswick, Kurralta Pk, Marleston and Plympton LATM Plan

Update: During the latest round of community consultation, proposed options for traffic calming devices to be installed at locations of significant concern were provided to the community for feedback, with nearly 1,000 people visiting our Your Say project page and 173 people providing input.

Based on feedback, a draft LATM plan will be developed and presented to Council for endorsement in the coming months. Implementation of the calming devices will occur during the next 5 years. Implementation will be based on priority of treatments and subject to funding.

In 2020, the City of West Torrens completed investigations for the Local Area Traffic Management (LATM) Study for the area comprising of Ashford, Keswick, Kurralta Park, Marleston and parts of Plympton, Netley and North Plympton, also known as Precincts 17, 18, 19, 20 and D. As part of this study, local residents, businesses and other key stakeholders were surveyed to help identify local traffic issues in conjunction with our investigations.

We have now reviewed the feedback and are seeking community feedback on the proposed options for traffic calming devices to be installed at locations of significant concern.

Traffic management designs and concepts for the AKKMP LATM area are now being investigated in detail, ensuring existing stormwater issues are addressed. The delay in stakeholder consultation is predominantly due to traffic impact considerations from the proposed upgrade of the North South Corridor. This is expected to be completed in the coming months.

In relation to Birdwood Terrace, raised pavement humps have been recommended along the road to minimise speeding traffic. Once the designs are completed, all affected residents will be consulted prior to construction.

Consultation letters were posted to all properties within the study area back in February/March 2020 and the consultation period closed in late March 2020.

We will be engaging local residents further on the matter in March 2021 so you may have the opportunity to contribute to the study then.

    Thanks for your question Natalie.

We understand the importance of parking provisions to support the needs of residential and commercial premises. Any changes to existing parking controls, if justified will require consultation with affected stakeholders and property owners in ensuring that the community's needs are also addressed. If you could provide information about specifically which roads you are referring to, we can look into it and provide you with a more detailed answer.
