Council is committed to making West Torrens the best place to live, work and enjoy life.
In early 2024 we asked people who live in West Torrens how we can better support wellbeing in our community. The feedback received will help us create new initiatives and build on existing programs to support physical, social, and mental wellbeing in West Torrens.
Looking ahead, Council will respond to what we heard by:
- Considering ways to improvement to communication about community programs to ensure that people are aware and able to access the range of programs available.
- Reviewing Community Connections activities and plans in light of the feedback around programs that are more and less valued by the community.
- Exploring opportunities to pilot programming innovations such as intergenerational programs to foster connections within neighbourhoods.
- Seeking opportunities to continue community engagement during establishment of Wellbeing Hubs at Fulham Community Centre, and Lockleys Community Room (Mellor Park).
Thank you to all community members who gave their time and effort to participate in the wellbeing consultation.
Wellbeing Hubs
Establishment of Wellbeing Hubs is a collaboration between Preventive Health SA and the City of West Torrens. Based on what we heard during the Wellbeing in West Torrens community engagement, the Hubs will aim to improve the physical, social and mental wellbeing of West Torrens communities. The engagement feedback will continue to shape the design, implementation and scheduling of programs in line with the Wellbeing Hubs Vision and Plan shown below. Council has also secured State government funding for a part time position to facilitate the implementation of this Plan.
